DECEMBER 2018 UPDATE

Since June, we have been really busy! We are delighted to say that we finally accomplished our goal of electrifying the elementary school in Platon Robert and building the cistern. Currently, students have been using the lights to study at night, and in January the official adult education program is set to begin. The cistern is used for drinking water and to cook the school childrens' meals. Both of these endeavors have significantly helped in our greater goals of community development.

Looking forward, we are in the process of drawing up business and loan plans to work with farmers to grow Vetiver. Vetiver is a crop commonly grown in Haiti whose roots are used for essential oil, and can provide a source for profit where much of Haitian farming is sustenance farming. Many of the parents in Platon Robert are excited to get this project off the ground to have income for their children. It is very rewarding to see these projects becoming interconnected and used by the community.

MARCH 2018 UPDATE

We are pleased to announce construction has finished for our first two wells in the village of Codere, Les Cayes, Haiti. We united the community members to build two safe water-wells that will allow the women and children in the village to go to school. Before the wells, village members had to trek up to three hours every day just to get water. Now, they only have to walk a mere 15 minutes in their own backyard. There is more time for women and children to go to school, and for women to go to work. We are completely revolutionizing these communities and helping to end the cycle of poverty in developing communities such as Codere.
